Valve releases 'Team Fortress 2 SDK,' enabling creators to 'build completely new games based on TF2'

It took almost 20 years, but Team Fortress 2, the team-based FPS that changed a great many lives when it debuted in 2007, now has an SDK that Valve says will enable creators "to build completely new games based on TF2." The Team Fortress 2 SDK is actually a "massive update" to the Source SDK that adds all of the client and server game code, which opens the doors to pretty much anything. "Unlike the Steam Workshop or local content mods, this SDK gives mod makers the ability to change, extend or rewrite TF2, making anything from small tweaks to complete conversions possible," Valve wrote . A non-commercial license granted to users means mods made with the SDK can be published on Steam, but must be free, as must all content included in any mods. There's an easy way to upgrade Destiny 2's latest god-killing DPS monster

One of the things I still like about Destiny 2 seasons is the way that balance updates switch up the meta. For Episode: Heresy, which kicked off last week, Linear Fusion Rifles are again the DPS top dogs. Of those, none has had a bigger glow up than The Queenbreaker. First introduced in Destiny 1 as Queenbreakers' Bow, and then reprised as part of the Forsaken Expansion in Destiny 2, this Fallen-themed arc wire rifle has always been the kind of gun that gives hot garbage a bad name. Now, a mere nine years since its release, The Queenbreaker has become one of the premier DPS weapons in the game. After winning every major Game of the Year award in 2023, Baldur's Gate 3 is now cleaning up in 2024 too

We said in January that Baldur's Gate 3 had completed its Game of the Year sweep by claiming the top honor in the 2023 Steam Awards. What we did not anticipate is that it would continue kicking ass through 2024. Maybe we should have been a little more forward-thinking on that one, because Larian's D&D RPG just claimed the Best Game title, and four others, at the 2024 BAFTA Awards . Baldur's Gate 3 beat out a slate of very impressive contenders for the win including Alan Wake 2, Dave the Diver, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The trophy will sit nicely alongside earlier Game of the Year hardware taken home from The Game Awards, the Golden Joysticks, and the Steam Awards.
