Armies in Total War: Warhammer 3's siege beta won't carry ladders in their pockets any more

When my units of ashigaru in Total War: Shogun 2 used to procure grappling hooks out of nowhere to climb enemy walls I didn't question it, but as the games have gone on the use of "pocket ladders" (or "ass ladders" if you prefer) has become a point of contention among players. The ease with which any unit can produce them has led many players to treat walls as a waste of time and instead defend the narrow interior chokepoints of settlements, abandoning the outer defenses entirely. Which is why Creative Assembly's plan for the upcoming siege update includes the removal of pocket ladders. Or at least, turning them into a menu option you can toggle on or off. Legendary JRPG studio's 23-year shun of the PC has ended: the next Vanillaware game will come to Steam

Muramasa: Revenant Blades is the newly announced action RPG from Vanillaware, a highly respected Japanese studio founded in 2002 and terminally aloof to the existence of personal computers. Until now: a revamped version of 2009's Muramasa: The Demon Blade was announced at today's Nintendo Direct. Initially a Wii exclusive, it'll hit Steam in 2027. If you happened to watch the Nintendo Direct I wouldn't blame you for tuning out when Vanillaware's logo appeared on the screen: this studio has never released a game on PC despite almost all of their games being critically acclaimed and beloved by droves. Its most recent game, Unicorn Overlord, was a lavishly illustrated tactical RPG, while the one before that, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, was essentially an RTS. Mastercard deflects blame for NSFW games being taken down, but Valve says payment processors 'specifically cited' a Mastercard rule about damaging the brand

Two weeks after Valve confirmed it had removed a pile of NSFW games from Steam because of pressure from credit card companies—and one week after Itch.io followed suit —Mastercard has released a statement denying responsibility for the takedowns, saying it "allows all lawful purchases" to be processed through its systems. "Mastercard has not evaluated any game or required restrictions of any activity on game creator sites and platforms, contrary to media reports and allegations," the company says . "Our payment network follows standards based on the rule of law. Put simply, we allow all lawful purchases on our network. At the same time, we require merchants to have appropriate controls to ensure Mastercard cards cannot be used for unlawful purchases, including illegal adult content."
