Legendary JRPG studio's 23-year shun of the PC has ended: the next Vanillaware game will come to Steam

Muramasa: Revenant Blades is the newly announced action RPG from Vanillaware, a highly respected Japanese studio founded in 2002 and terminally aloof to the existence of personal computers. Pirate survival game Windrose is crying out for a dedicated server if you plan to set sail for a lengthy voyage—especially if you plan to do so with friends. If you want to build the pirate fortress of your dreams, deck out your ship and make your way through the game's sprawling skill tree, you'll want a 24/7 world that your friends can hop in and out of whenever they like. That means installing a dedicated server, and using Windrose's admin commands to configure it to your liking. Armies in Total War: Warhammer 3's siege beta won't carry ladders in their pockets any more

When my units of ashigaru in Total War: Shogun 2 used to procure grappling hooks out of nowhere to climb enemy walls I didn't question it, but as the games have gone on the use of "pocket ladders" (or "ass ladders" if you prefer) has become a point of contention among players. The ease with which any unit can produce them has led many players to treat walls as a waste of time and instead defend the narrow interior chokepoints of settlements, abandoning the outer defenses entirely. Which is why Creative Assembly's plan for the upcoming siege update includes the removal of pocket ladders. Or at least, turning them into a menu option you can toggle on or off.
